In fact it wouldn't be surprising if most birth announcements would be transmitted electronically in the future. That being said, there really isn't a risk of traditional birth announcements disappearing anytime soon. There remains a huge market comprised of people that still like writing down sentiments and important social messages on special pieces of paper, and birth announcements written down on paper is still the only thing that will suffice. It is exactly this audience that keeps traditional birth announcements alive to this day and age, and they will likely continue to practice this activity for a long time to come. Far more important than the form that birth announcements take however is the content.
